Back in August, we asked for help keeping the Row River Review in the mail. I’m happy to share that the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund is sponsoring all six issues for a full year. That means the best little newspaper in the Row River Valley will keep arriving free of charge at about 500 homes across Dorena, Culp Creek, and Disston.

What’s Happening Around the Valley?

In a pinch, it comes in handy to have a copy of the Review on the kitchen table. What time does the bazaar start? When’s the next community gathering? And where did I put the paper? That last one is up to you.

Each issue brings together news from the Water District, the Fire District, and folks across the valley. You can follow progress on the fire stations, see what local groups are working on, or find practical ways to prepare for wildfire and other emergencies. Then you might turn the page and learn something about the history of a place you’ve driven past for years.

Keeping the Review in the Mail

With cell service and internet access limited in parts of the valley, we wanted a way to get local news right to people’s homes. This sponsorship helps cover the work that goes into each issue, from gathering news and putting the paper together to printing and mailing it. It also gives the people organizing bazaars, meetings, and volunteer days a way to get the word out across the valley.

A Partner Over the Years

Weyerhaeuser has been a steady partner to our community. Their land donation included the Disston Pathway corridor and the site for the Disston fire substation. I’m grateful for what that partnership has meant to our valley, and I’m glad the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund is now part of the Review. Thank you for helping us keep our little newspaper in the mail for another year.

Calling Student Writers from Dorena School and Child’s Way

We’d love to hear from students at Dorena School and Child’s Way. Tell us about something happening at your school, share a short story or poem, or write about a place in the valley you know well. You could even ask someone in your family what school was like when they were your age and write about what surprised you. A few sentences are plenty to get started. Send your writing to Communications@RowRiverValley.org for a future issue of the Row River Review.
